It’s been a while. This is the all-you-can-eat buffet of blog
posts, with lots of strange things that you would never expect to be
side-by-side under the sneeze guard. As
with all things on the buffet, most anecdotes will not be held at the proper
temperature and most definitely will have been violated by sticky kid
fingers. Eat at your own risk.

Snickers, bacon, tacos...oh my!
We have had a busy few weeks around here. When you don't hear from me, it's because we're too busy being normal? not having cancer definitely being normal definitely being kind of almost normal. It is easy to blog often when you are sitting in a chair in a hospital in a waiting room. It is not easy to blog often when you invite your kids to make a birthday cake out of candy. Have you tried to clean up after inviting your kids to make a birthday cake out of candy?

I -heart- weirdos
Consider this your invitation to join Team Eve at the second Triangle CureSearch Walk! No need to RSVP, just click here and register. It's only $10 for adults and kids are free. The best part is, if you can't be there in person, it don't even matter. You can sign up as a "virtual walker" and feel good about helping the bald kids.

The First Annual Pop Tart Walk
$67,048 for a first year walk. Incredible! Team Eve had a phenomenal 169 members and raised $15,827...and there's still money coming in! We were recognized as the top fundraising team, and two of our team mates, Brooke Howells ($2,179) and Jackie Knapp ($1,415), were recognized as top individual fundraisers.

The After-Math
Ever made 120 dozen chocolaty-somethings?
Your kitchen would be ridiculous. In fact, I'm still finding chocolate and powdered sugar in places I didn't know chocolate and powdered sugar could hide.

The Difference a Year Makes
One year ago today, right around this time of night, I was next to Eve in the ICU. She was tangled in tubing. She was in pain and under-medicated. She was having Tylenol shoved up her butt. She was having spasms if we turned off Dora.

BC, AD, and the COG
The following is a speech I delivered last week at a Casino Night fundraiser for CureSearch. I had to face my fear of public speaking head on, but the message is bigger and more important than my fear. As you read this, you can pretend you were there if you just imagine Eve running across the stage and leaping off, in between pulling on my arm saying, "Mommy! Mommmmmmmy!" You can get away with a lot, apparently, if you have some cool scars.
I was invited to speak by Sammy Keziah, father to Sam, who lost his life to Wilms four years ago. I appreciate him having us and not getting upset while Eve and Daniel played American Galdiators while he was speaking.
My name is Eve's mom, but I also answer to Christy.

"What can I do to help?"
I'm cashing in on your offers of help over the past year. I hope you meant it when you said you wanted to do something.
